MINIM/HALF NOTE
SUMMARY
1) Rhythm is a mixture of sounds and silences referred to as “notes” and “rests”.
2) Each note and rest has a value, denoting how long it should be held for.
3) How long a note or rest lasts for is described in "beats".
MINIM/HALF NOTE
Minims or Half Notes are notes that last for two beats. This means you play once on beat one then count to two.
It’s important to remember that you don’t play twice. Instead, you play once and count to two, holding for two beats.
ONE MINIM
NOT ONE MINIM
If you played twice on each beat, this would be two Crotchets and not one Minim.
