My Teaching
If you want to begin playing piano or improve existing skills then I can help! I provide private piano tuition to kids and adults of all ages, time schedules and abilities in a friendly and flexible environment in North Leeds and online.
Lessons with me are constantly varied in subject and style, exploring all sides and types of music. I will develop you as a whole musician, with varied lessons and exploring all parts and genres of music. At the heart of my tuition is improvisation and composition, teaching you not only to understand music, but to create your own in a meaningful way.
My aim is to create confident and flexible musicians, ones that are as comfortable improvising as they are reading music. Whether you’d like to play for fun, take exams (I have a 100% pass rate!) or discover how to make your own music, please get in touch!

About Me
As well as playing piano for as long as I can remember, I have a professional background in both education and music with over a decade’s experience in teaching and performing music.
I have a Masters degree in Psychology of Music where amongst other things, I explored the most effective ways to learn musical skills. I also work for Artforms, Leeds Council' music service, teaching and playing piano in schools around the Leeds area.
I love and play all types of music, though I tend to lean towards blues, jazz, boogie and ragtime in my own playing, with a strong emphasis on improvisation. I do a great deal of study into classical forms and use this as a way to influence my own compositions. As a performer, I’ve had a wealth of experience as a soloist and as part of a band.
